What you should know about Notre Dame

• The Fighting Irish got off to a record-breaking, flawless start and narrowly beat their No. 1 team. 3 USC at Los Angeles last week, 74-61. They also got the job done with a limited roster, fielding just eight players and using seven on the field against the Trojans.

• Graduating senior forward Maddy Westbeld And Lisa Karlen have yet to make their season debut with lower-body injuries, but the first appearance of the former’s final season in South Bend appears imminent. The Blue & Gold wouldn’t be surprised to see Westbeld on the floor soon for the first time this season.

• Guards Hannah Hidalgo And Olivia Miles are leading the way for the Irish. Miles was the season’s first ACC Player of the Week and Hidalgo has won the last two awards for that award. Hidalgo is averaging 24.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.2 steals and 3.6 assists per game. Miles averages 18.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

• In Post, Freshman Center Kate Koval leads the country with 26 blocked shots. Graduate senior forward Liatu King is a double-double machine, averaging 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. These two aren’t just keeping Notre Dame alive until Westbeld and Karlen return.

What you should know about TCU
