Kelly Clarkson’s decade-old single finally hits the top 10

Kelly Clarkson has found many spaces to occupy in pop culture and of course the music industry in particular. She started out as a reality TV star and then became a proven pop hitmaker. More recently, she is an Emmy-winning daytime host and has also found great success as one of many artists who look to Christmas to keep them going.

The American Idol champion first explored Christmas music with her album more than a decade ago Wrapped in red. This track has become a modern classic when it comes to seasonal tunes, with fans returning to the collection every year. One track in particular remains a favorite and as of this week it has become a somewhat surprising hit for the singer.

‘Underneath The Tree’ is once again on the main list of most consumed songs in the UK this week. Clarkson’s tune climbs from No. 12 to No. 10, making it into the top 10 for the first time years after its initial release.

With “Underneath The Tree” Clarkson celebrates her tenth top 10 hit in Great Britain. It’s been almost a decade since she last sent a song to the competition region, as “Heartbeat Song” remains her most recent success – before her Christmas break, that is. This single debuted in 2015 and peaked at number 7.

“Underneath The Tree” debuted on the UK song charts upon its initial release in 2013. The song hit the Top 40 two weeks after its release and has made a comeback on every holiday since.

The single reached a new peak of number 12 in January 2023, as the season came to an end. “Underneath The Tree” matched that feat just last week, and now it has reset its own record and climbed even higher.

As ‘Underneath The Tree’ improves his all-time ranking, Clarkson enters the UK song charts with another holiday favorite taking part. “Santa Can’t You Hear Me,” her collaboration with Ariana Grande, appears again at the bottom of the list at No. 98. This song has climbed as high as number 23 in the past, and it seems unlikely there will be a game for that position as the competition seems to be too fierce at the moment – especially when it comes to Grande, whose Evil The soundtrack album is still doing spectacularly well.
