Carrie Underwood performed a fan-favorite Christmas song during the premiere Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas special on CBS, and afterward the fans were in complete agreement.

Their first-ever live performance of “Stretchy Pants” received mostly rave reviews, and some people just didn’t like the playful nature of Underwood’s original Christmas song. “You’re wearing these skinny jeans. / Girl, I feel sorry for you. / Because I just tried everything and I’m going back for the second round. / I have my stretchy pants on.” She sings the first chorus.

However, something was missing.

  • Noah Kahan and Darius Rucker were two other special guests who appeared during the Dec. 19 TV special.
  • The film was filmed at the Grand Ole Opry House in November.
  • Underwood co-wrote “Stretchy Pants” with Chris DeStefano and Hillary Lindsey and released it in 2021.

A bonus clip shared on YouTube shows Underwood in a Christmas red dress that shows off her famous legs. People noticed her social media post and flooded it with compliments, but some questioned why she wasn’t wearing stretchy pants.

Bargatze hinted that his tuxedo was stretchy. Rucker nodded when asked if he wore stretch pants. Underwood’s outfit didn’t have any stretch or pants.

Underwood delivers the entire four-and-a-half-minute performance with the same power and conviction she evokes during performances of hits like “Before He Cheats” and “Something in the Water.” To her credit, she keeps a straight face while a group of dancers dressed like elves perform comedic choreography.

“I think they just finished their holiday dinner,” Underwood says at the end.

An animated video supports Underwood throughout the performance. It wasn’t her only moment from the TV special. She previously sang “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” with Rucker.
