The holiday has become an absolute Christmas classic since its release in 2006. The film stars Cameron Diaz as Amanda Woods and Kate Winslet in the role of Iris Simpkins.

The festive romantic comedy follows the two women as they swap homes for Christmas after having their hearts broken, reports Mirror.co.uk. In LA, Iris falls in love with Miles Dumont (Jack Black), while Amanda falls in love with Iris’ brother Graham, played by Jude Law. The film follows both couples and their holiday romance.

One of the most discussed scenes in the film is when Cameron Diaz beats Ed Burns. Ed has played many roles throughout his 30-year career as an actor, writer and director.

Of the punch scene, Ed told People: “I always know when Christmas is coming because people start saying, ‘Hey, The holiday!’”

He also added, “People always ask me, ‘Did she really hit you?’ ” he says, laughing. The answer? “She didn’t. It was a bit of movie magic.”

Burns’ professional front

Burns most recently wrote and directed the film Müller in marriagea funny drama about three siblings in their early 50s who are going through family and marital changes. Of the film, he said: “One of the things I initially started to grapple with in the script was the idea of, ‘How do you define yourself when you’re no longer like a parent, when that’s all that matters?’ Children 24/7?’ Then I thought, “How does a couple view and redefine their marriage after this big task is lifted?” It’s like a shark: if it doesn’t move forward, it dies. So how can you replace parenting in your marriage to ensure she continues to grow as a writer? .”
