Kate Middleton speaks of “vulnerabilities” in her Christmas message.

Wearing a festive red coat dress with a black bow, Princess Kate hosted the fourth Royal Carols: Together at Christmas at the iconic Westminster Abbey in London. The event was recorded earlier this month but was televised in the UK on Christmas Eve.

The service was preceded by a voice-over address from the Princess, who has had a busy year and recently returned to some of her royal duties after completing chemotherapy for cancer.

During the holiday broadcast, Kate, who appeared alongside Prince William and her children throughout the service, spoke about unity, reflected on “our own vulnerabilities” during the holidays and the need for empathy.

She said: “When we pause and step away from the pressures of daily life, we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness – so much of what defines the Christmas spirit.”

“The Christmas story encourages us to think about the experiences and feelings of others. It also reflects our own vulnerabilities, reminding us of the importance of giving and receiving compassion, and how much we need each other despite our differences.” Above Everything else encourages us to turn to love, not fear.
