Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? The storm is approaching in southern Colorado

Today’s forecast:
We’re calling today the calm before the storm as changes are expected to come to Southern Colorado on Christmas Day. Nevertheless, our forecast for Christmas Eve looks good! We will see dry skies and sunshine early, with increasing clouds expected this evening.

Maximum temperatures will warm to 30 to 40 degrees in the mountains and mountain valleys this afternoon, with a mix of 40 to 50 degrees in the plains.

Colorado Springs Forecast: High: 51; Low: 28. A mild and sunny Christmas Eve with great weather for travel and last minute shopping here in the Pikes Peak region today.

Pueblo Forecast: High: 55; Low: 24. Bluebird skies and mild high temperatures on Christmas Eve will give way to increasing clouds this evening as overnight temperatures fall to the mid 20s.

Canon City forecast: High: 55; Low: 33. A bright, dry and mild Christmas Eve will give way to a light rain and snow mix in the evening hours of Christmas Day.

Woodland Park Forecast: High: 46; Low: 25. Mid 40s and sunshine this afternoon will give way to increasing clouds and overnight lows in the mid 20s this evening.

Tri Lakes Forecast: High: 40s/50s; Low: 20s/30s. Dry skies and mild altitudes make for a wonderful Christmas Eve. There will be changes on Christmas Day and there is a chance of snow tomorrow evening.

Plains forecast: High: 50s; Low: 20s/30s. Light winds, mild sunshine and dry skies on Christmas Eve this year, a near-perfect day for last-minute shopping and holiday travel.

Forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: High: 40s/50s; Low: 20s/30s. Our forecast for Christmas Eve will be calm and clear ahead of mid-week changes and there is a chance of rain and snow showers on Christmas Day.

Mountain Forecast: High: 30s/40s; Low: 10s/20s. Dry skies in the mountains on Christmas Eve will give way to an increasing chance of snow late in the evening and on Christmas Day. A few centimeters of accumulation is possible Wednesday morning into early Thursday morning.

Advanced Forecast Forecast:
While we won’t wake up to a white Christmas here in the Pikes Peak region, the mountains will see snow showers early Wednesday morning. Here locally we will see a relatively mild day in the lower 50s to mid 50s on the Plains before wintry changes arrive tomorrow evening. Moisture is not expected to be excessively abundant, and with warmer temperatures also playing a role, the chance of accumulations of more than 0.1 inch in Colorado Springs is only about 20%. On Monument Hill and Woodland Park, it is possible that we could see anywhere from 0.1″ to a trace of snow to 1″.

Dry skies return Thursday morning, followed by another weak disturbance Thursday evening and Friday with a slight chance of rain and snow showers.
