One lucky American could have a very happy holiday because Tuesday night’s Mega Millions jackpot has increased again and is now at $1 billion.

After taxes, a lump sum payment of $448.8 million would be required for the Christmas raffle.

Tuesday night’s estimated jackpot would be the seventh-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history if someone wins.

“Tis the season for giving and today we are pleased to increase the Mega Millions jackpot for the Christmas Eve drawing to $1 billion,” Joshua Johnston, executive director of the Mega Millions syndicate, said in a press release.

To purchase a ticket, you’ll need to visit your local supermarket, gas station, or convenience store – and in a few states you can purchase tickets online.

To play you must select six numbers. Five numbers are white balls ranging from 1 to 70. The gold mega ball is a number between 1 and 25.
