Taco Bell is putting its own flavor twist on a popular fast food item.

The brand’s Crispy Chicken Nuggets are landing on the menu later this week, and PEOPLE got an early taste of the highly anticipated addition.

The new nuggets feature all-white chicken marinated in jalapeño buttermilk and coated in a mixture of breadcrumbs and tortilla chips.

And nugget enthusiasts have three sauces to choose from: Taco Bell’s exclusive new Hidden Valley Fire Ranch Sauce (which the brand calls the “star” of the group), spicy, creamy Bell Sauce, and sweet, spicy Jalapeño Honey Mustard -Sauce.

According to a press release, the restaurant tested more than 100 sauces to find the perfect combination.

“As the creators of Nacho Fries, Taco Bell fully understands that the responsibility to reinvent an American classic with a Taco Bell twist is not something we take lightly. But in a world dominated by chicken cravings, it was time to show the world how it’s done.” “Taco Bell is doing chicken nuggets – unexpectedly and undeniably bold,” said Taylor Montgomery, chief marketing officer of Taco Bell.

“The Crispy Chicken Nuggets provide a crispier, more flavorful nugget experience and when combined with the Hidden Valley Fire Ranch Sauce, we hope they will test people’s devotion to their favorite nuggets,” Montgomery added.

The nuggets caused a stir when Taco Bell began testing them in Minneapolis last year and in Houston in 2024.

So, how was it?

The chicken was tender and juicy, while the tortilla coating added a delicious crunch to every bite. In fact, the breading had so much flavor that the nuggets were delicious even without the sauce.

However, the sauces were each a welcome addition and prompted repeat dipping. Hidden Valley Fire Ranch, said to add a “fiery twist” to the creamy classic; the bell, which gets its kick from chili notes; and the jalapeño honey mustard, which enhances the spice with a familiar flavor, complement the chicken beautifully.

Crispy Chicken Nuggets will be available in orders of 5 and 10 at Taco Bell locations nationwide beginning December 19th. They will also be available in a combo meal with nacho fries, nacho cheese sauce and a large fountain drink.
