Home Alone star struggled to say a line to Macaulay Culkin because it was so “terrible” film

Listen, I’d like to say this first: They just don’t make celebratory films like they used to.

The older Back in Our Day Christmas movies are the best, and I bet you’ll agree that’s a fact.

I mean, There are ElevenHow the Grinch Stole Christmas, Santa Claus, Actually love…do I have to continue? Oh, and don’t worry, of course I haven’t forgotten, I’ll add that Home alone Films in this mix.

But while we all have our own favorite moments and memorable moments from each, from those Home alone The stars struggled to say a single line to Macaulay Culkin because it was so “terrible.”

Catherine O’Hara played mother Kate McCallister in the ’90s classic and reunited with former child star Kevin, who played the lead role, last December.

Speaking about the actor at the unveiling of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she recalled the moment from the iconic Christmas film.

As we all know, the story is based on the idea that young Kevin is left behind by his family when they go on vacation.

And the night before, when they leave for Paris, he falls out with all of them and is sent to bed by his mother because she doesn’t want to see him “for the rest of the night.”

He answers bluntly: “I don’t want to see you again for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to see anyone else either.”

His mother said back, “I hope you don’t mean that – you’d be pretty sad if you woke up tomorrow morning and didn’t have a family.”

But O’Hara revealed that she had a pretty difficult time filming it.

“In the scene where I had to drag him upstairs to sleep in the attic because he was misbehaving, he’s talking about family and I say, ‘Well, you’d be pretty sad if you woke up in the morning would and would have done that.’ no family,” and he says, “No, I wouldn’t.” And I should say, ‘Then say it again – maybe it will happen,'” she recalls.

“I can’t tell you how much this killed me – I just couldn’t believe I was saying something so terrible to this wonderful child.”

O’Hara then quipped, “Of course I wasn’t a mother back then and I had no idea what would come out of my own mouth with my own two sons.”

She praised Culkin’s work both in the film and since, praising his “perfect performance” for taking us “the little boy on an extraordinary adventure.”
