Carlos Corberan: Valencia approaches West Bromwich Albion coach

Carlos Corberan has been increasingly linked to multiple jobs lately, a sign that he is a busy agent, but perhaps also his own desire for new challenges.

Valencia were a big team in European football, winning La Liga and the UEFA Cup as recently as 2004, but the appeal of this job may come more from the pitch.

The Spaniard grew up in the village of Cheste, just over 32 kilometers from the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia.

His parents still live in the region, he has a Spanish wife, Claudia (whom he actually met in Leeds, where she worked as an interpreter) and they have two young children together, boys Dario and Marcos.

Although Corberan is a workaholic who lives and breathes football, he is also a proud family man. Maybe getting closer to your loved ones would help.

He is also an ambitious coach. His eleven games with Greek first division side Olympiakos, which he finished shortly before his arrival at the Hawthorns, certainly impressed him. So this is his first real chance to work at an elite level.

Like all Spanish clubs, Valencia is on winter break but his first game as manager would be a home game against Real Madrid on January 3rd. A day later, Albion travel to Swansea at 12.30pm, so you can understand the attraction.
