Former Iowa basketball player and analyst Jamie Cavey-Lang dies at 41

Jamie Cavey-Lang, a former University of Iowa basketball player and radio color analyst, died Saturday after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 41.

Cavey-Lang, who was part of the Iowa women’s basketball team from 2001 to 2005, was a standout player and a key member of four postseason squads. She finished her Hawkeye career with 1,265 points, ranking 27th in program history, and 506 rebounds. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and two-time All-Big Ten selection, she made a lasting impression on and off the court.

Following her playing career, Cavey-Lang joined the Iowa radio team in 2016 as a color analyst, working alongside Rob Brooks. She stepped down from this position after the 2022/23 season.

Cavey-Lang also earned her master’s degree in higher education education from Iowa and then worked as a career counselor at the university. She advocated for student-athletes and served on the Presidential Committee on Athletes for several years.

Viewing will be held December 26th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Celebration Farm, 4696 Robin Woods Lane NE, Iowa City. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Solon.
