Jaxson Dart breaks Eli Manning’s Ole Miss football career passing stat record in the Egg Bowl

OXFORD – Ole Miss football has a new all-time passing leader.

Senior Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart surpassed Ole Miss great Eli Manning in total passing performance on Friday. Dart made it with 5:19 left in the second quarter of the Rebels’ Egg Bowl game against Mississippi State. Dart hit senior receiver Jordan Watkins on a 17-yard comeback route.

Dart came into the game needing 50 yards to break the record. Manning’s record of 10,199 yards has stood for 21 years.

The no. 16 Rebels (8-3, 4-3) lead Mississippi State (2-9, 0-7) 17-14 in the Egg Bowl. Ole Miss is fighting to maintain its slim chance of making the College Football Playoff. The Rebels are No. 14 in the College Football Playoff rankings. A win could cause some chaos later in Week 14, allowing coach Lane Kiffin’s Rebels to sneak into the field.

In addition to leading the program, Dart has broken into the SEC’s all-time top 10. Dart becomes the 11th SEC quarterback to surpass 10,000 yards.

Dart has been the starting quarterback at Ole Miss for three seasons. His 1,353 passing yards at USC in 2021 are not included in Ole Miss records.
