Adam Sandler and Netflix wish you a Merry Christmas and a “Happy” New Year – and Hanukkah. Your gift? The SNL alum posted the first teaser for on Instagram Have fun with Gilmore 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the wacky 1996 golf comedy. Check it out below.

Sandler’s title character would appear on the Senior Tour these days, but we don’t learn many details about the film’s plot. But there are a few clues and some visual nostalgia, including Gilmore’s signature Boston Bruins jersey and waffle masher, as well as the fact that he wows fans on the tee by riding his driver like a horse. Oh, and… Shooter McGavin makes an appearance in the short clip, which is intercut with a snippet of Pilot’s 1975 catchy classic “Magic.”

Christopher McDonald returns as Gilmore’s lefty nemesis McGavin, Julie Bowen is back as love interest Virginia, Ben Stiller is back on board and Dennis Dugan reprises his role as pro golf tour manager Doug Thompson. New to the franchise are Ben Stiller, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Travis Kelce, Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie Scott Mescudi, professional wrestler Jacob Friedman and others.

Happy Gilmore Standout actors Carl Weathers and Bob Barker – whose combative roles made us all wonder why there’s no Oscar for Best Cameo – have both left us in the last 18 months.

Kyle Newacheck is directing the sequel from a screenplay by Tim Herlihy and Sanders, who also wrote the original.
