NFL on Netflix: Presenters, announcers and experts report live from Christmas game day 2024

A new holiday tradition begins today on Netflix, and NFL Christmas Gameday features an all-star roster of on-air talent (as if Beyoncé’s appearance on the Ravens vs. Texans halftime show wasn’t enough). The two epic matchups include Super Bowl LVII-winning Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, live on Netflix at 1:00 pm EST; followed by the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. EST. This group of multi-award-winning experts, reporting from Pittsburgh, Houston and Los Angeles, will help provide fans the ultimate gameday experience, with analysis and commentary from pregame to the final result.

Additionally, comedian Bert Kreischer will be joining NFL Christmas Gameday as a tailgate correspondent, and comedian Nate Bargatze will also provide special guest commentary.

Chiefs vs. Steelers on-air commentators

The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Pittsburgh Steelers live on Netflix at 1:00 pm EST. Pre-match commentators will return at halftime. During the game, on-air talent includes:

  • Ian Eagle, play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports
  • Nate Burleson, former NFL wide receiver and analyst at The NFL today And CBS Morning Co-host
  • JJ Watt, former NFL defensive end and CBS Sports analyst

Eagle will be the play-by-play commentator during the game, while Burleson and Watt will provide color commentary.

“There are two phenomenal encounters,” Watt tells Tudum. “The Chiefs and Steelers are both at the top of the AFC – (it will be) an old-school battle, hopefully with some snow. “Just a perfect Christmas game.”

Reporting from the sidelines are CBS Sports sideline reporter Melanie Collins and NFL Network senior national reporter Stacey Dales.

Ravens vs. Texans on-air commentators

The Baltimore Ravens will play the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in Houston at 4:30 p.m. EST live on Netflix. On-air talent includes:

Eagle and Olsen will be the play-by-play commentators during the game, while Erdahl and Wyche will report from the sidelines. Beyoncé will be the halftime performer in Houston at NRG Stadium — but Eagle tells Tudum there’s more than just an epic halftime show to look forward to — especially if you’re a fan of subplots.

“Besides Beyoncé, this is an outstanding quarterback matchup,” Eagle said. One of the NFL’s rising stars, CJ Stroud (of the Houston Texans), goes up against the reigning MVP in Lamar Jackson (of the Baltimore Ravens). This time of year the stars seem to rise to the occasion. Now they can make it for a global audience, which makes it all the more special.”

Other NFL Christmas Gameday talent includes Ian Rapoport, NFL Network insider breaking news insider, and former NFL official Gene Steratore as a rules analyst for both games.

“It’s a new, entertaining pregame show with a fascinating and entertaining mix of personalities that gives us a new look at the games and everything that happens in the NFL,” Rapoport tells Tudum. “Plus, the games are great. So many interesting storylines. I can’t imagine a better day of football.”

The game will be available to Netflix subscribers worldwide in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and German. Brees and NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson will also provide additional commentary outside the U.S., with international hosts to be announced. Hanson says part of the thrill of this year’s NFL Christmas Game Day is that the games themselves may have higher stakes as teams fight for position in the standings as the postseason approaches.

“What I’m most looking forward to is the domino effect of playoff victory scenarios that will play out over these six hours,” Hanson said of the live event.

NFL Christmas Gameday will stream live on Netflix on Wednesday, December 25th and is available with all Netflix subscriptions. For more information about watching live events on Netflix, click here.

What are some of your favorite sports titles on Netflix?

Last Chance U – The access, molding (or unmolding) of young men and the incredible individual stories of players, coaches, staff and school officials working to improve their own lives and those of others.

quarterback That was incredible. This kind of access to Patrick Mahomes? Plus, I get to see the real Kirk Cousins and what he did for his father’s fashion. Unsurpassed.

Recipient – I really enjoyed unmasking players like Amon-Ra St. Brown and his family and learning what makes him so excellent.

Untold – The friend who didn’t exist — This is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. “Manti Te’o’s” is a true and evolving story of triumph over tragedy as well as a lesson in how catfishing can cause widespread damage. This story really hit me in the heart.

What is your favorite holiday tradition? Hosting family and friends (when I’m not working) and making sure everyone’s glass is full!

What are some of your favorite sports titles on Netflix?

We loved Friday Night Lights. I actually only finished watching it a few weeks ago. I had seen the first season but was never able to finish it, so Leah and I binged on Netflix. Just absolutely outstanding. As good as advertised. We were all emotional at the end. I’m a big fan of quarterback And Recipient (not just the cameos I do, but the rest too). I watched both films from start to finish and love the deep dive into the off-field storylines and the way these guys prepare to get on the field. I know a lot and have even learned things from it. I tend to see a lot of these (Untold) documents, so I saw Johnny Football, swamp kings, The murder of Air McNair … Everything excellent. Johnny Football was probably the most insightful in terms of learning things I didn’t know. Just crazy.

What is your favorite holiday tradition?

I’ll give you a few personal ones. During the Christmas season, we love taking family trips and looking at the lights in our neighborhood and around the country. It just makes you feel good. And where we live there are some elaborate ones. The children love it. And then every year we have a Christmas party with the families of some of my schoolmates. Small gathering. But just a moment to pause, celebrate, appreciate and enjoy one another in an otherwise very busy season, year and life.

My favorite holiday tradition isn’t necessarily an exact moment, but rather it’s those random little moments when you’re up late or wake up in the middle of the night and the whole house is dark except for the warm glow of the Christmas tree and decorations. Nothing better.
