The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loudly for everyone to hear – and Mariah Carey is known to be one of the loudest singers around. It’s fitting that the Queen of Christmas kicked off Netflix’s first NFL Christmas game day with a festive performance of her holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

In the recorded performance, the star was dressed in a sparkly red suit and sang against a snowy backdrop. Footage from past Steelers and Chiefs games played across the screen, along with scenes of fans watching the big game at home (with a special cameo from Kevin Hart).

The feature comes as the singer hits her third consecutive week at number one with the Christmas song, reaching a record 17 weeks. It surpasses Carey’s longest-running chart-topper to date, “One Sweet Day” with Boys II Men, which spent 16 weeks at number one.

Carey’s appearance marked the start of game day for the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, who played at 1:00 p.m., and the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans, who played at 4:30 p.m. But above all, she opened the game day for pop fans. Her performance precedes a special halftime show by Beyoncé, who will premiere songs from Cowboy Carter live for the first time. Musically, Carey and Beyoncé are in good company. For the Ravens-Texans game, the singing group Pentatonix was brought in to perform the national anthem.

“This Christmas we will all get our wish,” Carey said in a teaser trailer for her opening performance. “The NFL is live on Netflix. And I’ll be there too.” The singer also recently wrapped up the Christmas Time Tour, which stopped in 20 cities across North America. Your first Christmas album Merry Christmas celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.

“I was really young and just starting out, and I felt like people were making Christmas albums later in life,” Carey said Associated Press in October. “But now people have started doing them whenever they want, for example at the top of their careers. So, I mean, how did I feel? I was a little worried and then I thought, ‘I love this.’ And I decorated the studio and just had the best time.”
