.A winter system will move across the region during the afternoon
until the evening hours on Christmas and bring extensive mountain snow with them
Cascades through Thursday.

* WHAT…Wet snow is expected at elevations above 4,000 feet. In total
Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches. Wind gusts up to 45 degrees
miles per hour.

* WHERE…Eastern slopes of the Oregon Cascades.

* WHEN…From 1:00 p.m. Wednesday to 10:00 p.m. PST Thursday.

* IMPACT… Periods of moderate and heavy snowfall are combined with low snowfall
Visibility to create difficult driving conditions. Gusty wind
branches could fall.

* MORE DETAILS…Snow levels are expected to fluctuate
4000-5000 feet, with the passes over the Cascades close by
4500 feet. As the snow depth drops or stays lower, snow amounts will decrease
