The Orlando Magic advance to 3-0 in NBA Cup play against the Brooklyn Nets

BROOKLYN, NY – The Orlando Magic’s recent victories have been full of variety.

There were close calls and games that ended after three quarters and low-scoring grinders and high-quality shots.

In the NBA Cup group game on Friday evening, the Magic offense defeated the Brooklyn Nets 123:100 at the Barclays Center.

The Magic have won 11 of 12 games – nine of those wins by double digits – and improved their record to 14-7.

The Magic also improved to 3-0 in the NBA Cup, with a point difference of 60 points. Tuesday night’s clash with the Knicks at Madison Square Garden – on national television – will have the East Group A crown on the line.

Franz Wagner led Orlando with 29 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Senior winger Kentavious Caldwell-Pope once again had an impressive performance on offense, scoring 19 points and making seven of eight shots (including four three-pointers).

As a team, the Magic made a total of 18 three-pointers and tied their season high with their opening win at Miami.

Orlando scored 34 points off 20 Brooklyn turnovers and won the battle for points 48-42.

The Magic and Nets meet again in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon, continuing Orlando’s five-game road trip in the Northeast. Launch is at 3:30 p.m. ET.
