PHOENIX − The Rate Bowl is finally here.

Rutgers football plays Kansas State today at Chase Field looking to finish its season with an eighth win and send its seniors out on a high note.

As for the opt-outs, coach Greg Schiano said Tuesday that running back Kyle Monangai will not play in the game but will instead assist the coaches.

All others eligible are expected to participate, including linebacker Tyreem Powell and left tackle Hollin Pierce.

1st Q, 11:21: Kansas State takes an early lead

The Wildcats reached the Rutgers 11 with the help of a 43-yard run by Dylan Edwards, but QB Avery Johnson threw three straight incomplete passes and Kansas State had to settle for a 29-yard field goal.

It looks like Greg Schiano is calling defensive plays while Joe Harasymiak is now the head coach at UMass. Schiano said earlier this week that they would call the plays as a team, but it appears (at least from our perspective) that he is the one making the decisions.
