CeeDee Lamb of the Cwoboys was sidelined for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury

CeeDee Lamb’s season is over.

The Cowboys shut down their star wide receiver due to the lingering shoulder injury he had suffered since midway through the season.

“Additional evaluations and scans on CeeDee Lamb’s shoulder this week have revealed that his injury has now progressed to the point where he will be listed as ‘out’ for the remaining two games of the season,” NFL Network reported Thursday, citing a Team update.

“(Lamb) will undergo a treatment and rehabilitation process for his shoulder,” the update said. “(The injury) is not currently expected to require surgery and (Lamm) is expected to make a full recovery.”

The 25-year-old Lamb, a three-time Pro Bowler, was one of the Cowboys’ only bright spots in a season full of disappointments.

The fifth-year wideout will finish his 2024 season with 101 receptions, 1,194 yards and six touchdowns, marking the fourth straight season Lamb has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark.

The Cowboys, at 7-8 and mathematically eliminated from postseason contention, have no reason to leave their best player on the field and risk aggravating a shoulder injury.

Lamb has reportedly been dealing with the pain since Week 9, when he sustained the injury in a loss to the Falcons.

The shoulder was injured again on Thanksgiving when the Cowboys beat the Giants, and then injured again during their final game, a Week 16 win against the Buccaneers.

The former first-round pick paced Dallas’ wideouts last week, catching seven of eight targets for 105 yards.

“My shoulder is out of balance. I’m not even going to lie to you,” Lamb told reporters after the game. “I’m just out there fighting and doing what I have to do.”

During his weekly appearance on 105.3 the Fan, owner Jerry Jones was asked if he would keep Lamb in the lineup for Dallas’ final two non-significant games of the season – at Philadelphia in Week 17 and then at home against the Commanders in Week 18.

“We leave it up to the player,” Jones said. “Of course we will also listen to the medical staff, but we’ll leave that to (Lamb).”
