The Hawks score 50 points in the fourth and complete their comeback, 141-133

The Atlanta Hawks took on the Chicago Bulls in the first of three games in four nights. The Bulls came into the game winning five of the last six games between the two. On the other hand, the Hawks have won six of their last ten games.

The Hawks ended a three-game streak of 20 or more turnovers as they only managed 14 turnovers in the game. The Bulls’ Jevon Carter had a great first quarter for the Bulls as he hit six three-pointers. Carter finished the quarter with 19 points, almost single-handedly outscoring the Hawks.

Nikola Vucevic and Carter scored 25 of 28 points for the Bulls in the first quarter. The Hawks shot less than 35% from the field in the first quarter while the Bulls shot 55.6%. The Bulls led 33-21 at the end of the quarter.

The Hawks fought back and made 32 of 34 free throws in the game. The Hawks’ big three of Trae Young, Jalen Johnson and De’Andre Hunter were good as they kept the game close all night.

The Hawks have three players averaging 19 points per game or more on the season, with Trae Young averaging 21.8, De’Andre Hunter 20.1 and Jalen Johnson 19.4. Young was the Hawks’ star in the second half, finishing the game with 27 points and 13 assists. Hunter leads the league in bench scoring and averaged over 22 points per game in December. Hunter finished that game with 25 points.

The Hawks failed to stop the Bulls from scoring three points as they finished second in the league with 16 points per game. They finished the game with 21 made 3-point shots. The Bulls let their foot off the brake in the final quarter as they lost all momentum as the Hawks showed great grit in the game.

The fourth quarter proved to be a turning point in the game. The Hawks scored 50 points and had no turnovers in the quarter, while the Bulls scored 25 points. The Hawks made 60% of their shots and got to the free throw line 17 times.

The Bulls entered the fourth quarter with a 17-point lead and continued to score three points. They even made ten three-pointers in the quarter.

Johnson did an excellent job with 19 points and 11 rebounds until the fourth quarter to keep the Hawks close. Johnson finished the game with 30 points and 15 rebounds.

The fourth period began with Nance scoring on the first possession and a turnover on the Bulls’ first possession. The Hawks showed plenty of energy in the quarter, cutting the lead to three with 3:16 left.

The Hawks went on a 23-2 run to tie the game at 126-126 as Young tied the game with a three-pointer. During the Hawks’ run, which lasted 3:41, the Bulls did not score a single field goal.

The sellout crowd was electrifying during the run as it pushed the Hawks to new levels. The Hawks dominated the quarter by overcoming a 21-point deficit and winning the game. The Hawks used their shooting to team up with clutch baskets to get the win, defeating the Bulls 141-133.
