SUNDAY EVENING: Partly cloudy skies, still cold. Low: 24. Wind: West 5-10 MPH.

After Black Friday snow showers caused snow accumulations across the region through the end of the week, we will be factoring winter weather into the forecast for the start of the weekend.

As the northwesterly flow continues this morning, clouds remain in the forecast heading into the weekend and there is also a chance for some snow showers to linger. Temperatures will remain high into the upper 20s, but factoring in the breezy winds, wind chill values will be around 15 to 20 degrees for most of the day. Any snow accumulation due to the snow showers should be at 1 inch or less throughout the day.

A few flurries are possible on Sunday under mostly cloudy skies through the end of the weekend. High temperatures won’t get much warmer and will remain above 30°C heading into the end of the weekend on Sunday.

Dry weather moves back into the forecast and we look ahead to the start of next week before all eyes turn to another system moving in mid-week on Wednesday. This appears to be a clipper system dipping northwest to southeast, moving in late Tuesday evening and staying there for most of the day Wednesday. With colder air, high temperatures into the mid 30s and overnight lows into the 20s, it actually looks like it will be mostly snow. Some data suggests we may have a short winter or rainy snow mix, but for now we’re keeping this system mostly snow.

This system will shift eastward as we get late Wednesday night, and we will forecast mostly cloudy skies Thursday. The battle with cold temperatures will continue, with high temperatures staying into the 30s through next Thursday.

Temperatures will become even colder by the end of next week as another blast of arctic air moves into the region. By next Friday temperatures will drop to over 20 degrees.
