Miami football players fight on the sidelines during the Pop-Tarts Bowl

Fights are not uncommon in college football. However, there are fights that start between teammates in a game.

During Saturday’s Pop-Tarts Bowl, two Miami football players got into a scuffle on the sidelines that was shown on the ESPN broadcast. It is unclear what led to the beating.

The fight took place between defensive linemen Simeon Barrow Jr. and Marquise Lightfoot, with the latter appearing to throw the first punch after the apparent argument. The hit occurred on the sideline during the game against Iowa State.

Lightfoot, a true freshman, didn’t rack up any stats in 2024, while Barrow Jr., a senior transfer from Michigan State, was one of the Hurricanes’ most productive defensive players this season with 5.5 sacks and 28 total tackles.
