Robert Lewandowski converted a first-half penalty to become the third player to score 100 or more Champions League goals after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Lewandowski calmly fired a low shot into the net from the penalty spot in the 10th minute to give Barcelona a 1-0 lead over Brest.

According to UEFA, Lewandowski is behind Messi’s 129 goals and Ronaldo’s 141. Lewandowski needed 125 games to reach his milestone – two games more than Messi and 12 fewer than Ronaldo.

It was Lewandowski’s sixth Champions League goal this season. It is the ninth season in which the Polish striker has scored six or more goals.

The 36-year-old Lewandowski has had an outstanding season, scoring 21 goals in 19 games for Barcelona. With 15 goals from 14 games, he is the top scorer in the Spanish league. He scored 14 goals in the team’s last 10 games in all competitions.
