The Philadelphia Eagles missed a chance to clinch the NFC East in their Week 16 loss to the Washington Commanders. They didn’t miss a second chance to take home the division title.

The Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys 41-7 in Week 17 to officially finish in the NFC East. Philadelphia won despite Jalen Hurts missing the game due to a concussion and backup quarterback Kenny Pickett leaving the game in the second half after suffering a serious hit.

The Eagles have now secured a spot in the top two in the NFC. They’ll have to wait and see if they can secure the No. 1 seed, but if they don’t, they have a chance to host the No. 7 seed as the No. 2 seed in the conference.

Who will the Eagles play in the playoffs?

The Eagles won the NFC East and will have one of the top two spots in the NFC. If they can reach the No. 1 seed in the conference, they will earn a much-needed first-round bye.

If not, Philadelphia could only play one of three potential first-round opponents. They are as follows:

Below is a look at the Eagles’ chances of facing each potential first-round opponent.

Washington commanders

The Commanders are the most likely opponent for the Eagles. Washington only needs to win one of its final two games to clinch a playoff spot, and they can only be the No. 6 or No. 7 seed in the NFC.

Below is a look at how the Commanders can clinch the NFC’s seventh seed:

The Commanders win one of the last two games;
In the end, the Packers have a better record than the Commanders.

The Commanders have a better conference record than the Packers. So if the two finish the season tied in the standings, Washington would be ahead of Green Bay in the NFC wild card picture.

Green Bay Packers

The Eagles will face the Packers if the following scenarios occur:

The Packers lose AND the Commanders win at least one of their last two games;
The Packers lose one of their last two games AND the Commanders win.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers will only be the No. 7 seed if they can knock the Commanders out of the postseason race. This can only happen if the following occurs:

The Falcons beat the Commanders and win the Week 18 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Commanders lose to Falcons, lose Week 18 game at Dallas Cowboys;
The Buccaneers win the Week 18 game against the New Orleans Saints.

This makes Tampa Bay the most unlikely first round opponent for Philadelphia.
