Gal began her post by saying, “This year has been one of great challenge and intense reflection, and I have wrestled with the question of how or whether to tell a personal story. In the end, I decided to let my heart guide me.” Me.”

“Maybe this is my way of processing it all, of pulling back the curtain on the fragile reality behind the curated moments we share on social media. Most importantly, I hope that by sharing I can raise awareness and support others who may be facing something similar.”

Sharing graphic details of her excruciating pain and ordeal, Gal wrote: “In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain. For weeks I endured unbearable headaches that left me bedridden. until I finally underwent an MRI scan that revealed the shocking truth.”

“In one moment, my family and I were confronted with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, I just wanted to persevere and live.”

Gal continued: “We rushed to the hospital and within hours I was undergoing emergency surgery. My daughter Ori was born in this moment of uncertainty and fear. Her name, which means “my light,” was not chosen by chance.

Before the surgery, I told Jaron that she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel when our daughter arrived. Thanks to an exceptional team of doctors at @cedarssinai and weeks of dedicated care, I made it and began the road to recovery. Today I am completely healed and full of gratitude for the life that has been given back to me.

Gal added: “The trip has taught me so much. First, it’s important to listen to our body and trust what it tells us. Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often have a deeper meaning, and being attuned to your own body can be the life saver.”

“Secondly, awareness is important. I had no idea that three out of 100,000 pregnant women in the age group over 30 will be diagnosed with cardiovascular disease (the development of a blood clot in the brain).”

“It is so important to catch it early because it is treatable. Although rare, it is a possibility and knowing it exists is the first step to addressing it. Sharing this is not meant to scare anyone, but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to do something about their health because of this story, it will be worth sharing,” Gal concluded.

The pregnancy wasn’t easy and we got through it. You have brought so much light into our lives and lived up to your name, Ori, which means “my light” in Hebrew. Our hearts are full of gratitude.”
