Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was fined $100,000

The NBA on Sunday fined Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards $100,000 for “using profanity during a live television interview.”

Edwards uttered three expletives during a postgame interview with FanDuel Sports North on Friday after the Wolves’ win at Houston, a game in which he hit the game-winning three-pointer, one he called “my favorite shot of my career.” He drilled a three-pointer from the sideline near the Wolves’ bench with 23.2 seconds left to complete a 16-point comeback in less than five minutes for a 113-112 victory.

That’s $235,000 in four separate fines this season for Edwards, who was punished for criticizing officials and using profanity. He will earn $42.3 million in 2024-25.

In a press release, the NBA said the amount of the fine was based in part on “Edwards’ history of using profanity during media interviews.”

A field issue has delayed the start time for the Timberwolves’ game against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night at Target Center.

The game will begin at 8:10 p.m., an hour later than scheduled, the Timberwolves announced on Sunday afternoon.

During the shooting in San Antonio on Sunday morning, a problem was discovered with the “City Edition” dish that needed to be replaced. A spokesperson said the team will use the “core” version instead.

The delay came a week after a game against Golden State was delayed by nearly half an hour because one of the nets partially separated from the edge.
