Cuban criticizes Musk’s statements about the AfD

This is not the first time Cuban has publicly responded to Musk’s statements. Previously, Cuban analyzed Musk’s controversial statements in which he equated the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party with the US Democratic Party in 2008. Using Grok, the artificial intelligence chatbot on X, Cuban highlighted inconsistencies in Musk’s analogy.

According to Cuban’s AI-driven post, the AfD is more closely aligned with the Republican Party in the United States than with the Democrats. However, many X users noted that Cuban’s analysis did not take into account Musk’s reference to the Democratic Party under then-President Barack Obama in 2008.

The AfD, which has been classified as a “suspicious extremist” organization by German courts since 2021, has seen a significant increase in popularity. In September it became the first right-wing extremist party to win a state election in Germany since the Second World War.

Musk supports the AfD amid political unrest in Germany

Amid the political crisis in Germany following Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s loss of confidence vote, Musk publicly supported the AfD, calling it “the only hope for Germany” and claiming: “Only the AfD can save Germany.”

This endorsement was met with sharp criticism, including from US Senator Chris Murphy, who described the AfD as a “neo-Nazi” group in a CNN interview. Musk hit back, calling Murphy a “big liar” and claiming the AfD’s policies were identical to those of the US Democratic Party in 2008.

The Cuban’s last word

Mark Cuban further analyzed the AfD’s platform and concluded that it is similar to the US Republican Party, especially in its current far-right variant.

Regarding Grok, Cuban tweeted: “I love @grok. “That’s literally why I keep this app,” adding that the chatbot provided clarity when exploring Musk’s controversial analogy.

Despite Cuban’s insights, some users criticized the omission of the 2008 time frame in his response, arguing that it missed Musk’s broader point.
