“I hate losing, so there’s no way I could have done that in the right frame of mind after a loss,” Reaves said after the game. “That thing burned a hole in my pocket.”

The former All-Pro safety said he planned to do this last week but decided to do it after the game instead. He informed Worley’s family before proposing marriage.

“If we win this game, it’s fate,” Reaves said. “She deserves it. I can’t say enough about her. When I was at my lowest point last year, she was there every day to pick me up. She showed up. This is my best friend. “I’ve been my best friend since high school.”

Reaves joined Washington as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He played two games in the first season before working his way up the rankings and eventually becoming an impact player. His special teams skills earned him a Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection in 2022.

The 2023 season ended early for Reaves as he underwent surgery to repair a partially torn ACL. Washington managed to keep him on the roster and he appeared in every game this season.
