Craig Conover said he and Paige DeSorbo would “get married” before splitting.

Craig Conover was ready to marry Paige DeSorbo.

The 35-year-old Sewing Down South founder opened up about the couple’s future just weeks before DeSorbo announced they had split after three years of dating.

“We’re playing the long game. It would be easy to go for instant gratification, but the foundation we’re laying is that we’ll die together one day, not just that it’s fun,” he told People of DeSorbo in early December.

“We know we’ll get married one day, and when we do it will be a lot of fun, but who knows whenever that is?” he continued.

“Once you get out of the pressure cooker and have perspective and journey, life becomes a little easier. There is no reason to apply pressure. I think people will see a lot more of our lives because we take our time than if we rushed it.”

DeSorbo, 32, confirmed their split during her and Hannah Berner’s “Giggly Squad” podcast on Monday. The exes often spoke about their living situation, as he lived in Charleston while DeSorbo remained in New York City.

“It’s strange, it’s very strange. I wasn’t expecting that,” she said Monday, noting that they “decided not to be together anymore.”

“When we first started dating, of course you didn’t think, ‘Oh, what’s going to happen?’ Are we going to get married, aren’t we?’ In this relationship, that’s just who you are. Not to sound traditional and old-fashioned, “This is not a situation where I’m doing a 50-episode series of ‘Who the hell was I dating?'” the “Summer House” star joked. “The opposite of this couldn’t be true.”

Paige DeSorbo said that she and Craig Conover were “breaking up” in the “Summer House” Season 9 trailer. Bravo

“I have so much love and respect for Craig. I think he’s one of the best people I’ve ever met in my life,” she continued. “I will remain his biggest fan and want the best for him and he will truly get the best because he is the best. However, I think it was exactly the right decision for both of us to move forward in our lives and set the direction in our lives that we did not force.”

“I love him, I think he loves me,” she continued. “I think we will remain friends. Nobody did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing. I think we’ve both just grown up a lot and said what we want and what we don’t want, and I think being able to express how you feel and what you care about in real time is extremely powerful wishes for the future.”

DeSorbo and Conover first met in the summer of 2019 on a Season 4 episode of “Summer House” when they attended Kyle Cooke’s birthday party.

Years later, Conover told people that he and DeSorbo “had a crush on each other” after the Hamptons party.

In October 2021, he confirmed to People that they were officially an item.

Last year, DeSorbo admitted to the outlet that their long-distance relationship wasn’t always “an easy thing.”

“But I have to say, I think Craig and I are coping very well with it. “I really love my life the way it is,” she explained.

However, in April of this year, she cried over a possible move in a trailer for the seventh season of Summer House. “I would change my whole life,” she said. “I don’t have any friends in Charleston. My entire career is in (New York).”
