Dan Campbell is a man of his word.

The Detroit Lions coach said he would play his starters on Monday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers, and they did to open the game.

Campbell indicated during the week that regardless of whether the Minnesota Vikings won or lost in Week 17, the Lions would travel to California to try to win and would not be worried about resting the starters.

This has been confirmed from quarterback Jared Goff onwards.

Despite the starters being on the field, the Lions’ already struggling defense allowed a score on the game’s first drive, but Goff and Co. quickly responded with a touchdown drive of their own.
