QB Jared Goff leads the Detroit Lions offense to another big performance

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff put in another brilliant performance, making him an integral part of this Detroit Lions season.

Goff threw at least three touchdowns for the fourth straight game in Detroit’s 40-34 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. He threw touchdowns to three different players (Jameson Williams, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta) while completing 26 of 34 passes for 303 yards with no interceptions and a passer rating of 132.4.

“I thought Goff had a big game,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said. “Goff played a blast today. And he played like that. I just thought he took another step up, which is hard to believe given the fact that he played there because the standard is so high.”

Goff is truly preparing for a historic season. Monday marked his eighth game of the season with a completion rate of at least 75 percent, tying Tom Brady (2007) for the most such games in a season in NFL history.

It was his 11th game of the season with a 70 percent completion rate and his seventh away game of the season with a 70 percent completion rate for a Lions team that finished undefeated on the road this season.

Goff is from California and said he had too many friends and family at the game to count. It had to be a special moment on Monday, playing in front of everyone the way he did and beating the team he was a fan of as a kid.

“I feel like we’re all playing at a high level offensively right now,” Goff said. “The last couple of weeks, even in the Buffalo game that we lost, we scored a lot of points. We’ve been playing well offensively for quite some time and I feel like I’m just a part of that.”
