Everything Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff said after the Lions beat the 49ers

Here’s everything Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff said after defeating the San Francisco 49ers 40-34 on Monday Night Football.

On if he plays at a higher level:

“Yes, I feel good. I feel like we’re all playing at a high level offensively right now. The last couple of weeks, even in the Buffalo game that we lost, we scored a lot of points. We’ve been playing well for quite some time and I feel like I’m just a part of it.”

How proud the team is of being unbeaten away from home:

“A ton. I’ve already answered this question on the field, but the us-versus-everyone mentality, how tight this group is, how close we are to each other, that comes out with full force on the street. Our culture, how proud we are and what we want to do. Our fans showed up to away games and made a difference. They made it feel like a semi-home game and that’s important.”

On the team’s mentality of not resting the starters in Monday’s game:

“I put this to bed pretty early in the week. No matter what would happen, we would go. I’m sure it’s hard for him, but I think it’s the only option we know. It’s just about finding a way to win. The team we played, San Francisco, ended our season last year. There were a lot of people on this team who were here last year who wanted to get a hit, even though in many ways it was meaningless to them and to us. But they were proud out there too. They also tried to beat us. It was a fun game.”

How many friends and family he had at the game:

“A lot. I have no idea how many, but a lot.”

On the fans chanting his name against the team he rooted for as a kid:

“Pretty surreal. Our fans have been incredible at away games all year round. It is truly remarkable what they have achieved. On third down, sometimes it’s loud for the offense and it’s pretty cool. It’s very cool for me to be at home in front of my family and friends and have such an experience.”

On quarterbacking a four-player offense with over 1,000 all-purpose yards:

“It’s really cool. The four are certainly David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown, right? And Sam LaPorta is as good as it gets at tight end. And Tim Patrick did a great job too. We have a good group and a very selfless group, which is the best part. These guys want each other to succeed. They just want to win. Doing something like that is very cool. We are proud of that.”

What the 49ers game means for the team as it prepares to face the Vikings:

“A game like today? Another W? I don’t know. If there is something to keep the winning streak going. You don’t want to lose a game and have to start the winning streak again. I think there’s something to be said for that. Certainly the Vikings are on a winning streak, and so are we, now after two or three games. I think that’s the most important thing to win this game. I don’t think it’s hard. I don’t know what’s difficult about this week, but yeah, we’re good.”

On if restarting after a two-week break is more difficult:

“I think so. I don’t know. If we manage to get the bye week, we would be very happy about it, so I don’t know. There’s a give and take. There’s definitely merit in taking some time off It can be bad for teams. I don’t think it would be bad for us. I’m sorry, I don’t have a better answer.

What makes the team so successful on third and fourth downs:

“Details, pass protection and our guys getting open and making plays. We had a couple, one or two fourth-down touchdowns in the red zone and failed on one of them. We put on a few plays throughout the evening. We have guys open. It was fun.”
