As Epic Games’ holiday giveaway comes to a close, the penultimate game has finally been announced. Sifuthe hit beat ’em up game 2022, can be downloaded for free until tomorrow morning, January 1st, 11 a.m. Sifu combines gentle, cinematic martial arts combat with the rigorous experimental mentality of roguelikes, but every death comes with a price: the terrible, unstoppable passage of time.

That might have been a bit dramatic. Every time you die, your magical amulet brings you back to life, but you’ve aged a little. With each death, your character will visibly age and take more damage from hits, but your hits will also have slightly more penetration. Some abilities may become unavailable as your character ages, and age can essentially turn you into a fragile weapon. They can do a lot of damage, but a single hit is enough to end your run.

However, if you get too old, dying will force you to restart the level. Don’t worry – the secret to eternal youth apparently lies in beating up bosses, as defeating a mini-boss or clearing certain rooms can knock a year off your death count. Just try not to get hit. If you take damage, it will negatively affect your complexion.
