It’s been 27 years since the release of Air Force One, but could Harrison Ford return as President James Marshall for a sequel?

“Get off my plane…again!” Harrison Ford starred Air Force One as President James Marshall, who must recapture the titular plane when a group of terrorists hijacks it and takes everyone, including his wife and daughter, hostage. The film was a huge success upon its release in 1997, grossing over $315 million worldwide. Although there was talk of one Air Force One Continuation, nothing came together. However, Scooper Daniel Richtman says Sony Pictures is developing a sequel that may include the return of its leading man.

We’ll take this rumor with a grain of salt at this point, but Richtman has heard that the studio is developing a new project Air Force One sequel (which could also be a reboot) and that Harrison Ford could star in it. This is just me spewing, but it’s easy to imagine Marshall attending the inauguration of the new president (his daughter?) when terrorists attack and force the family to evacuate on Air Force One. Rinse and repeat.

Air Force One Screenwriter Andrew W. Marlowe confirmed earlier this year that there had been discussions about a possible sequel, but admitted they had difficulty bringing the idea to fruition. “We had talked about it, but with this franchise there are always challenges. You come into the Die Hard The problem is that every time John McClane goes on vacation or goes somewhere, the terrorists take over. So we were very carefulsaid Marlowe. “We had discussions with Beacon and everyone involved, but never came up with a story that we thought could do justice to what we had achieved in the main film. There are many variations of it and with the tuning fork we haven’t gotten to the point where we’re all like, “Ah, that’s perfect!” We’re not repeating the first film. We build on that.“

Not every successful film needs a sequel, and I’m not convinced that audiences are really demanding that Harrison Ford, at the age of 82, take down the bad guys; We have Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny for that.
