A severe storm could hit the Columbus area on Sunday

The National Weather Service is warning of a severe winter storm that could blow through central Ohio this weekend.

According to the weather service’s Wilmington office, there is a moderate to high chance of a severe storm affecting the region Sunday through Monday.

The forecast says the greatest chance of snowfall will be Sunday evening, with 70% of the precipitation falling in the Columbus area, with the chance of precipitation decreasing throughout Monday. The NWS also forecasts the possibility of snowfall Thursday and Friday.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high of around 35°C.
Thursday evening: Snow likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind around 7 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around one centimeter possible.
Friday: Chance of snowing before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. The chance of precipitation is 50%, with less than half an inch of new snow accumulation possible.
Friday evening: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high of around 25°C.
Saturday evening: Partly cloudy, with a low around 14.
Sunday: It may snow after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high around 27. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday evening: Snow likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with lows around 20°C. The chance of precipitation is 70%.
Monday: There is a chance that it will snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high around 28. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Monday evening: There is a chance that it will snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 27.
