Famous rock star Billy Idol has been delighting audiences for over four decades, but still makes time for his children and grandchildren.

Idol, born William Michael Albert Broad, has three children: sons Brant Broad and Willem Wolfe Broad and daughter Bonnie Blue Broad. He also has four grandchildren, Brant and Bonnie.

In May 2024, the “White Wedding” singer spoke to PEOPLE about his love of music and family, saying, “It’s really nice.” It’s nice, I have the best of both worlds. It all worked out in an incredible way that I could never have imagined.

Idol regularly posts about his children and grandchildren on social media and proudly shares adorable moments with them, such as gathering his entire family to celebrate his stardom on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and his young grandchildren backstage dance and groove to his music.

Despite the rigorous schedule of a touring musician, Idol has managed to combine his two seemingly opposing worlds as a rock legend and a grandpa. He told PEOPLE what it’s like to be a grandfather: “That’s nice about being a grandpa, you don’t discipline them. You’re more likely to give them advice when they ask you something like that. So the pressure isn’t the same as being a parent where you have to discipline…that’s completely different.”

Brant Broad

Idol is father to son Brant Broad.

Brant has two children with his wife Teresa. He has a daughter named Mackenzie, born in June 2020, and a son named Mason, born in July 2022. According to Idol, Mason shares a birthday with Idol’s father.

“Happy birthday Mason, my grandson who is 2 years old today was born on the same day as his great grandfather WA Broad on July 6th so I can always remember his birthday…here he is with his dad, my son Brant @tnorthbroad87,” Idol wrote on Instagram, celebrating his grandson’s second birthday in 2024.

Brant and his family joined the rest of the Broad brothers at Idol’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in January 2023. Later that year, Idol shared photos from a backstage visit from Brant and Mackenzie during his show at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn, NY.

“Had a lovely visit with my granddaughter McKenzie backstage at the Kings Theater yesterday 🎭…also with my son @brant_northridge_broad…plus McKenzie recently started school,” he wrote alongside a few photos from the night.

Willem Wolfe Broad

Idol welcomed son Willem Wolfe Broad with former Hot Gossip member Perri Lister in the 1980s.

As a child, Willem accompanied his father to various public events, including a local premiere of The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997 and the circus in 1999.

As an adult, Willem has followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued a career in the entertainment industry. According to his website, he is a “musician, artist and DJ creating worlds of sound and visuals in Los Angeles, California.” He names his musical influences as The Velvet Underground, Patience and Prudence, DJ Soul Clap and Apex Twin.

During an interview with Up MagazineHe spoke about how he was musically influenced by his mother and father: “One of the favorite music I had as a child was techno-ambient house music, these things that my mother played at home in the ’90s. My dad gave me these cassettes and my first two cassettes were The Offspring, Smash and Kraftwerk. Years later, I really found it so interesting how that summed me up.”

In 2010, Idol told the New York Daily News he was “proud” of Willem and “interested” in his music. “For example, I am very interested in what my son is doing. He’s more into bands like Radiohead than my music. That doesn’t change the way I feel about my music.”

Idol added: “I’m proud of her. My son now has his own band. Who knows? Maybe we’ll even start playing together.”

Willem continued to make occasional public appearances with his famous father, including at Mr. Chow’s 50th anniversary celebration in Los Angeles in 2018 and at Idol’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2023.

Bonnie Blue Broad

Idol’s daughter Bonnie Blue Broad was born in the 1980s. The singer shares Bonnie with ex Linda Mathis.

Bonnie decided to have a life outside of entertainment, as Idol told it New York Daily News in 2012 that she “showed no interest in the business” and instead went to college to study writing. Still, Bonnie has publicly supported her famous father over the years, such as attending and posing for a 2008 Emmys party Harper’s Bazaar Singapore with idol.

“My hope for my children is that they are happy and find love and a meaning in life that fulfills them wonderfully,” he said in the magazine supplement.

Bonnie has two children, daughters Poppy Rebel (born 2020) and MaryJane (born 2021), with her husband Alex Sobel. While Bonnie’s Instagram account is private, her daughters have their own public Instagram usernames.

Bonnie, her husband and children were all there to support Idol as he received his historic star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
