“Fire Ryan Day:” Ohio State fans and media are tuning out after recent loss to Michigan

Ryan Day is under fire from fans and media following Ohio State’s loss to Michigan on Saturday afternoon in Columbus.

The Buckeyes had a 21-point advantage at home against a hapless Michigan team, but struggled offensively in that game. Will Howard threw two interceptions and the Buckeyes averaged fewer than 5 yards per play for the first time all season.

More importantly, it’s another loss in The Game for Day. He defeated Michigan in his first game of that series in 2019, but the Buckeyes have now lost four straight games to their archrival.

While the pain of a rivalry loss will linger for at least another year, there are other implications for this game as well. Ohio State is now likely eliminated from the Big Ten Championship Game. Penn State is in the driver’s seat next weekend, playing for the Big Ten title, assuming it can beat Maryland on Saturday afternoon.

At 10-2, Ohio State is now at the mercy of the College Football Playoff selection committee. Regardless of whether the Buckeyes force their way into the CFP or not, Day’s job security is certainly in question after a fourth straight loss to rival Michigan.

Here are some of the reactions to Ohio State’s historic loss:
