Jermaine Burton has left his home with the Bengals and is receiving an eviction notice

The Cincinnati Bengals’ injury report lists wide receiver Jermaine Burton as “out” for Saturday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The reason listed is “not injury-related – other.”

The NFL team announced that the third-round rookie out of Alabama would not travel with the team on Friday due to a “coaching decision.”

Then came the news that Burton would be evicted from his apartment.

According to Hamilton County Clerk of Courts records, Radius Acquisition LLC filed an eviction notice on Dec. 23 against “Jermaine Burton and all occupants” of his residence and is seeking $2,506.33 from the wide receiver.

Burton has a court date set for Jan. 24 to address the eviction.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that the company gave Burton a three-day notice to vacate the apartment on December 17, but he failed to comply. The Enquirer also reported that Radius was “seeking $10,000 to compensate the plaintiff for damage to the premises beyond fair wear and tear.”

Bengals coach Zac Taylor made the decision to fire Burton earlier this season. Because Tee Higgins was injured in Cincinnati’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 3, Burton was scheduled for an extended playing time, but he remained inactive on game day.

“At the end of the week we just had to do all our business the right way,” Taylor said after the game. “And that’s why I can sit here and say it was a difficult decision to make him inactive, but based on all the information we had, it was absolutely the right decision. He’s a guy who I think will have a really good career here and we’ll support him. And he wants to help us win and do things right. Today was just a necessary step that we had to take.”
