The Warriors’ Kuminga was sidelined in the second half with an ankle injury

SAN FRANCISCO – Golden State Warriors power forward Jonathan Kuminga suffered a sprained right ankle and was ruled out for the second half of Saturday night’s 121-113 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Kuminga landed awkwardly with his right foot in the paint and appeared to twist his right ankle before falling to the ground. He left the game right after with 2:27 remaining in the second quarter. Kuminga finished the game with 13 points and made 3 of 3 from behind the arc.

Kuminga’s injury comes as the forward is playing his best basketball of the season. He scored 20 or more points in three of his last four games, scoring a career-high 34 points in consecutive games.

Kuminga’s status for Sunday’s home game, the second in a row, against the Sacramento Kings is uncertain. The Warriors are already without Brandin Podziemski (abdominal strain) and Gary Payton II (calf).

Stephen Curry (both knee injury management) also sat out Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies.
