Seahawks part ways with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb

The Seahawks parted ways with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb on Monday, head coach Mike Macdonald announced on his weekly radio show on Seattle Sports 710AM.

“It’s really as simple as this: I felt like the direction our offense was moving was different than the vision I had for our team, and I felt like it was a necessary one at that point decision was,” Macdonald said. “Ryan is a damn good football coach. We did some really great things on offense this year. Geno had a number of highlights throwing the ball in his career and we did some really cool situations. I know Jax has had a great year. So we.’ I did a lot of great things, but my vision for our offense ultimately was different than what I thought Ryan would have. So we respect him a lot and wish him all the best.

“These are difficult decisions. These are really tough decisions, but the team comes first, and I just felt like it was what was best for the team… I think we just had to go in a different direction, and that’s why we ultimately did took the step.

When asked about the search for a new offensive coordinator, Macdonald said he wanted to move quickly but also search thoroughly to find the right fit for the team.

“We’re going to open it,” he said. “We will do our research and be thorough. We want to be efficient, we want to act quickly, but we also want to be smart. We’re just looking for what fits the type of person.” That will come and guide our offense. Not that we don’t see eye to eye with Ryan, but definitely looking for alignment and a shared vision on how we want to move forward.”
