Stefan de Vrij insists Inter want to “prove we have improved” since their Derby della Madonnina defeat to Milan, with a second leg in the Supercoppa Italiana final tonight.

De Vrij has additional inter-motivation

“We are focused on what we have to do and feel ready for this grand final,” De Vrij told Sport Mediaset.

Inter are attempting to make history by becoming the first club ever to win the Supercoppa Italiana four years in a row, which is just one of the reasons they are considered favorites.

De Vrij was asked whether this status puts additional pressure or, more importantly, just makes the Nerazzurri proud?

“Being favorites is outside of our dressing room, we don’t think about it. We are excited and can’t wait to play this game.”

The only defeat of the season in Serie A so far was against Milan, when they fell 2-1 in September 2024, ending a run of six consecutive wins for Inter in the Derby della Madonnina.

“We performed poorly against Milan in September and they deserved to win. That’s why we want to prove tonight that we have improved since the start of the season.”
