Police are investigating the death of a woman at the Thousand Oaks Hotel

Thousand Oaks detectives are investigating the death of a woman at a hotel Monday night.

Officers were called to the Palm Garden Hotel at 495 N. Ventu Park Road just before 11 p.m. by a man who said he had killed his fiancée and was suicidal, Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Ken Truitt said. on Tuesday morning. The Sheriff’s Office is charged with providing police services in Thousand Oaks.

Officers found the 24-year-old woman dead and arrested the 31-year-old man, Truitt said. Located in the Newbury Park area, on the north side of Highway 101.

The suspect, a Thousand Oaks resident, was arrested on suspicion of murder, sheriff’s officials said in a news release. He was taken into custody without incident. His name has not been released.

The woman’s place of residence was given as unknown.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Monica Smith said shortly before 11 a.m. that the man had not yet been booked into the Ventura County Jail. She did not want to provide any information about his whereabouts.

The woman’s cause of death was also not given. No further details were given about their relationship or the reasons for their stay at the hotel.

Authorities said the death was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public.

Lisa Bishop of Encinitas said Tuesday morning that she comes to the hotel about every three weeks on business trips with her husband. She was staying in another wing of the hotel and didn’t know what was going on until she left her room at 9:45 a.m. to get a phone charger from her car.

“This is a great hotel, always very quiet,” she said. “We stay here because we always feel safe here. But I don’t think so anymore.”

The sheriff’s office is also investigating an apparent murder-suicide incident Thursday in Camarillo involving a couple, ages 91 and 89. The husband had called authorities to report that he had killed his wife before reportedly killing himself, officials said. According to the county coroner, both were killed by shotgun blasts.
