A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after the stabbing of a 67-year-old woman in Simi Valley on Friday, police said.

Simi Valley Police Department officers responded to an incident in the 4300 block of Ish Drive just after 2:30 p.m. after receiving a call from a woman who said it was an emergency and mentioned the knife, according to the department’s press release.

Police Sgt. Rick Morton said a 24-year-old man allegedly went to an area nursing home and entered the door after the victim left it open while she helped a resident into the home, Morton said Sunday.
