Marvel Rivals reveals Season 1 Battle Pass skins, confirms nerfs and buffs

Marvel Rivals just released an 11-minute developer insight video about Season 1, coming Friday, January 10th, and with it a ton of information about the new season, some confirming leaks, others with brand new information.

Battle Pass

  • First, let’s start with the Battle Pass and what we know now. The video featured three of his iconic skins, one for Loki, Wolverine and Scarlet Witch, to match the vampire theme.
  • The Battle Pass will contain double the content of the Season Zero Battle Pass and include a total of ten new skins.
  • The Battle Pass costs 990 Lattice ($10), but you can earn 600 Lattice and 600 units if you complete the whole thing. As always, these passes do not expire, but some Chronotokens do expire between seasons.

Nerfs and buffs

  • They have confirmed through leaks what was reported about nerfs and buffs, with a bonus. Hela and Hawkeye are receiving nerfs, Wolverine and Storm are receiving buffs, and Venom and Captain America are receiving buffs to help them “charge into battle.” But no exact details yet.
  • Additionally, there is another change that will allow players to better track when Jeff is about to devour you with his ultimate.

Heroes and maps of the first season

  • It’s been confirmed that the three-month season will release two heroes, Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman, right at launch, and the Human Torch and The Thing about six weeks later.
  • Mr. Fantastic and Human Torch are duelists, Thing is a vanguard, Invisible Woman is a strategist. No detailed breakdown of the kits yet.
  • Three new maps have been added to the game: Sanctum Sanctorum, Empire of Eternal Night Midtown and Empire of Eternal Night Central Park. A new arcade mode is being added to Sanctum.

Ranked play

  • Everyone loses seven divisions in the rankings after resetting and deleting.
  • There will be a new Celestial rank that sits between the Grandmaster and Eternity ranks.
  • Marvel Rivals will release pick and win rates every half season, which will likely indicate upcoming nerfs and improvements.

With much to do, expect a number of further reveals later this week, with a particular focus on Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman’s movesets. I’m not sure if they’ll do the other two or just wait until they’re actually out. They may also do a more detailed map walkthrough. There was almost no actual footage in this developer video, so there’s no doubt there’s more to come soon.
