Word analysis

Every day I look at Wordle Bot to analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

PLATE was a pretty good opening tip, leaving me with just 39 words and both a green and a yellow box. Unfortunately STAIR left me with a grade of 8. CRAFT reduced that number to two, and now I finally got lucky: I guessed DRAFT even though the word GRAFT hadn’t even occurred to me. I was lucky! DRAFT for victory! The final draft!

Competitive Wordle Score

Just like yesterday, I get 0 points for guessing in four rounds and -1 for losing to the bot, which this time caught in just three tries today.

  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If there is a tie you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or simply play for a new score every day.

Today’s Wordle etymology

The word “Draft” comes from Old English “Draft” or “dreamy” means “to draw, pull or carry”. This came from Proto-Germanic “Dragan” (to pull or draw), which is also the root of the modern English word “pull.”

In the late Middle Ages “Draft” began to take on the meaning of a preliminary version of a document, probably stemming from the idea of ”drawing” or “sketching” something before finalizing it. The meaning of “Draft” when conscription, or selection for military service, emerged in the 18th century and reflected the idea of ”pulling out” individuals for service.
