Meteorologist Majestic Storm has the forecast

Hello, happy Wednesday morning. I am a 4029 meteorologist. Majestic storm. We have another bitterly cold start to the day. It’s 7am this morning, we wake up, head out the door, head to work and maybe take the kids to school. Cold temperatures between about 12 and 14 degrees in northwest Arkansas. Note that we will also have some northerly wind, which will increase the felt temperatures. This morning it dipped into the single digits, not quite as cool in the river valley but not too far behind either, although I woke up with readings mostly in the high teens and low 20s. This afternoon at 3 p.m. we have a beautiful day with lots of sunshine ahead of us. However, it’s colder today and I’m having a hard time even reaching the freezing mark in northwest Arkansas with temperatures only in the 20s. And then planned mainly for the river valley. There will be low to mid 30s around dinner time this evening, still mostly clear and then temperatures will drop as we head into Thursday with snow tomorrow. Now tomorrow is a damn hard day. Thursday and Friday are each several days. So here it is about 10am on our Thursday morning. It is important to note that the system is moving from the south into the northern parts of our observation area, i.e. into the river valley. You will see these impacts earlier in the day and it will be consistent, light to moderate snowfall and I think there will even be heavy snowfall at times. It’s about 4pm here and we’re heading into northwest Arkansas. I think there will be widespread snow along I-40 and I-49 by dinnertime, so plan accordingly. If you need to be off the road at this point, make sure you are traveling during the night hours. Then the snow spreads further. Whenever you look at this graphic and see darker shades of blue, that’s where the snow will be heaviest. So there is still growing confidence that this will be one heck of a snow event. We expect snow to accumulate for all, with the largest accumulations occurring in the river valley. So we will pay attention to that. It’s midnight, so it could well be, especially if you’re in northwest Arkansas, where you go to bed on Thursday. There are hardly any. It’s snowing outside, but if you wake up on Friday we could have quite a mess out there with a lot of snow thrown in. Now that we focus on it As of 7am on Friday, it is still snowing extensively and it will stay that way. Therefore, there will be chaos on the streets in the area on Friday afternoon. That may be over, but that still leaves us with subfreezing temperatures in northwest Arkansas that are slightly warmer in parts of the river valley. But not by chance. So we’re still expecting several inches of snow to accumulate. The National Weather Service has watches and warnings in effect for Thursday and Friday for areas as far south as northern Texas to southeastern Oklahoma and virtually the entire state of Arkansas. Please note, however, that we in Northwest Arkansas are not currently being monitored or alerted. So all the areas are shaded this blue, you’re in a freaking winter storm. Check back and this is new information this morning. The National Weather Service has updated these areas. The Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for Logan and Scott County, which is the most severe and where we are likely to see the greatest amounts of snow. So we’re expecting, and it wouldn’t surprise me, to see at least some warning watches popping up in northwest Arkansas today. As for the actual weather forecast, this is the forecast from your 4029 weather team. However, the lower totals in northwest Arkansas are between 1 and 4 inches, so are still impactful, and then as we move toward Washington County we will see those totals increase between 2 and 4 inches. And then when you get south of I-40, we can see between 4 and 8 inches of *** there. *** Snowfall. So again on Thursday and into Friday we’re tracking the winter storm system that will bring snowfall for just about everyone. So wake up, grab your coffee and join us this morning. We’ll give you the very latest details on everything we know now, what we’ll continue to learn, and then give you a comprehensive look at the 7-day forecast. I hope to see you then.
