ABC-7 Initial Warning: Strong Winds, Dangerous Wind Chill and Chance of Snow

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – We remain under the ABC-7 First Alert for the impacts of a cold front that has moved into the region. The wind is blowing strongly this morning, temperatures are below freezing and the wind chill is reaching dangerous levels.

Waking temperatures will be below freezing and are expected to remain well below average, with an expected high of 39 El Paso, 38, Las Cruces.

Wind chill will be the biggest factor this morning with winds blowing at 40 miles per hour. Strong winds in addition to the cold temperatures make it cold. The chilly wind makes it feel like temperatures are in the teens, which is dangerously cold.

Parts of northeast El Paso and the lower valley got some snow last night, but the ground wasn’t cool enough for anything to stick.

The good news is that temperatures will be cooler today so the ground will be cooler and we may have more snow in the region late this morning. There is a chance of snow off and on through Friday.
