Wildfires in Los Angeles County cause schools to close in several counties: LIST

Firefighters worked around the clock as three fires, fueled by destructive Santa Ana winds, broke out in Los Angeles County on Tuesday.

Thousands of families from Santa Clarita, the Pacific Palisades and the San Gabriel Valley remain under evacuation orders. Due to the life-threatening situation, several school districts have canceled classes.

The following LA County school districts will be closed on Wednesday, January 8:

  • Azusa Unified School District
  • Baldwin Park Unified School District
  • Duarte Unified School District

  • Glendale Unified School District
  • La Canada Unified School District
  • Los Virgenes School District
  • Monrovia Unified School District
  • Mountain View School District
  • Pasadena Unified School District
  • Rosemead School District
  • San Marino Unified School District
  • Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District
  • South Pasadena Unified School District
  • Temple City Unified School District
  • Valle Lindo School District

Closure of the university campus

The following university campuses are closed:

  • Caltech Pasadena campus
  • Mount Saint Mary’s University (Chalon Campus)
  • Pasadena City College
  • Santa Monica College Malibu Campus

School closure updates

Los Angeles Unified announced they could move to online learning on Thursday, January 9th. School officials said they would make that decision by Wednesday at 4 p.m.
