Snow is expected in northwest Arkansas’ River Valley on Thursday and Friday

Hello, I’m 4029 Majestic Storm Meteorologist and the 4029 Weather Team has been carefully tracking our next storm system that is expected to impact several southern states. By Thursday morning, the storm will move from south to north in the river valley, so it will take a while to reach northwest Arkansas. But when the storm system finally passes, everyone needs to be prepared for the impacts of winter. Let us guide you through your Thursday morning, starting between 8 and 9 a.m. I think it’s fair to say that some of these light snow showers will arrive across the River Valley at this point. Temperatures mostly in the 20s. It’s now morning, it’s 10 o’clock here. More snow showers are beginning to develop across the River Valley, not quite yet in northwest Arkansas. There we still have a lot of cloud cover and the temperatures will mainly be in the minus degrees. 30s. Now we will take you to Thursday afternoon between around 12 p.m. I think it will snow in northwest Arkansas then. At this point, widespread snow showers could occur from the river valley to northwest Arkansas, with temperatures reaching the upper 30s. Not only will we see this widespread snow, we also can’t rule out some sleet or possibly bullhead mixed in. We now fast forward to the 7th time frame where there is still widespread snow at times. We could even see patches of heavy snowfall. So this will definitely have an impact on our region’s roads. If you can, just hunker down on Thursday and especially as we head into Friday. It’s midnight here now. As you can see, we will see temperatures continue to keep SETI in the upper 20s and lower 30s as this front moves forward. All the blue is still there. The widespread snow and we collectively as a weather team believe that the greatest impacts will remain for accumulation in the river valley, anywhere from about 4 to possibly 8 inches of snow accumulation, about 1 to 4 for the river for northwest Arkansas. And then if we move forward a little bit, here you see yourself walking out the door at about 8 o’clock on Friday morning. If you need to be somewhere, you need to make sure you allow enough extra travel time to get where you need to be. In general, drive slowly as there could be several inches of snow on the ground at this point. The majority of the system continues to track east of us and by about 1011 Friday morning most of this moisture should be gone from our area, but of course we will be dealing with the aftermath. Stay close to you. The 4029 Weather Team will be tracking the storm for you throughout the day, Thursday and Friday, ensuring you are prepared and safe when the storm moves through.
