Goalscorers: Gavi 17′, Yamal 52′

Barcelona reached the Supercopa De España final thanks to a 2-0 win in Jeddah over Athletic Club.

Hansi Flick’s side gained the upper hand early on when Gavi fended off a cross from Alejandro Baldé just after 15 minutes, capitalizing on a strong period for the Blaugrana.

As the first half wore on, Athletic seemed more likely to find an answer as Iñaki Williams posed a threat and forced Wojciech Szczesny to be alert in the Barcelona goal, but Barcelona maintained their lead before the break.

Seven minutes into the second half, Flick’s side had a firmer grip on the game when Gavi turned provider and Lamine Yamal came on, whose sharp turn and finish gave his side a 2-0 lead.

The Athletic Club sent Nico Williams looking for a way back into the game and thought they had done just that with ten minutes left when Oscar de Marcos fired the ball into the net, but the offside flag interrupted their celebrations.

Four minutes later, Iñaki Williams shot low past Szczesny, but the offside flag failed again, allowing Barcelona to record a relatively comfortable win in the final minutes and set up a final against Real Madrid or Mallorca.
